Inbar Solomon
Inbar Solomon is a saxophonist, flutist, and composer from Tel Aviv, Israel, currently based in New York City. A graduate of The New School’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program, Solomon was awarded significant merit scholarships from both The New School and Berklee College of Music in recognition of his talent and potential.
Deeply rooted in the bebop tradition, Solomon’s playing reflects his admiration for masters such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Barry Harris, and Elmo Hope. His sound on the alto saxophone is characterized by a dark, warm tone, intentionally set apart from the bright style often associated with the instrument. In addition to alto, he performs regularly on baritone saxophone and flute, expanding his palette and bringing multiple voices to his music.
As a performer, Solomon has appeared at major international festivals including the Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Jerusalem Jazz Festival in Israel. He has also performed at leading venues in Tel Aviv such as Beit Haamudim, Shablul, and Haezor, as well as at clubs and concert spaces across New York City.
Collaboration has been central to his development. Solomon has worked with highly respected artists including Jeremy Pelt, Joe Farnsworth, Pasquale Grasso, Shai Maestro, Ari Roland, and Chris Byars, musicians whose guidance and artistry have shaped his own voice.
Currently, Solomon leads a sextet in New York that focuses on his original compositions and inventive arrangements of classic bebop repertoire. His approach to bandleading is personal and precise: he writes music specifically for the musicians in his group, tailoring voicings, solos, and arrangements to their unique sound and character. This ensemble has quickly become the centerpiece of his work, allowing him to blend tradition with forward-looking creativity while staying true to the essence of the music.
As both a performer and teacher, Solomon’s mission is to inspire audiences and students to fall in love with jazz. His goal is to make the tradition approachable, joyful, and alive, ensuring that the music continues to thrive for future generations.

Very much in the bebop tradition, with refined sextet arrangements. All originals including an uptempo and ballad composition. Inbar is strongly connected with the swing/bebop tradition. The sextet format as a platform showcased his stylistic interests and his well-developed arrangement skills. It was a very even performance, very solid. The uptempo tune had great energy and was followed by a nice original ballad. What stood out was Inbar’s relaxed playing style. With his heart in the tradition, it is nice to see that Inbar balanced this out with all originals, which made it more personal
