Hank Johnson

Born Stuart H. Tresser in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York on July 14, 1949. Started to play piano at 3 years old. First piano teacher was Mrs. Henryetta Klein. Other teachers included Morty Kerssler, Morty Read, Ms. Malady (classical teacher), Teddy Wilson, Horace Parlan, others. Graduated George W. Wingate High School in Brooklyn, New York June 1967. Won 1st prize at high school talent show with first interracial jazz trio and vocalist. Education: New York City Technical College (graphic arts and advertising technology), New York Institute of Technology (BFA in Communication Arts 1973). Founded Jazzbone Records (an independent record label). Presently director of Tresser Printing Office (a security printer) and a division of Tresser Music, music publishers.
