Gunilla Törnfeldt

Gunilla Törnfeldt is a jazz vocalist, composer, and educator based in Stockholm. Her career took off in 2002, when she began performing with leading Swedish jazz artists including Monica Dominique Quintet, Carl-Axel Dominique Trio, Georg Riedel, Jan Allan, and Ove Lundin. Since then, she has become a distinctive voice on the Swedish jazz scene as a singer, composer, and arranger. In 2006, she was awarded the Fasching Friends’ Scholarship for “seriously and with strong dedication striving to renew and develop jazz music and related genres.” Her critically acclaimed solo debut A Time for Everything (2009) was followed by Behind the Mask (2017).

Gunilla’s artistry is deeply rooted in a love for the jazz tradition. Her music blends beautiful, understated melodies with clever arrangements and a creative, expressive, and versatile jazz sensibility—balancing tenderness with a dramatic, powerful vocal presence.

Her third solo album, Unraveling, which will be released this Autumn, tells a story of reclaiming one’s power, healing, and stepping into the light. The album interlaces Gunilla’s own compositions with renditions of works by Joni Mitchell, Elton John, and others. In the autumn and spring of 2026, she will tour with pianist Carl Bagge, bassist Svante Söderqvist, drummer Daniel Fredriksson, and saxophonist Jonas Kullhammar.

Alongside her solo work, Gunilla is the founder of the acclaimed vocal ensemble Stockholm Voices. Since 2012, the group has captivated audiences with its rich harmonies in sold-out concerts, radio broadcasts, and on celebrated albums such as Come Rain or Come Shine (2015) and New Horizon (2023).

Gunilla is also an Associate Professor of Voice at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and a highly regarded guest lecturer and -teacher at music institutions throughout Sweden.

Gunnar Wiklund, Folkbladet

"Gunilla Törnfeldt’s music is rooted in the jazz and the singer/songwriter genre, but is also moving towards other different directions. Törnfeldt dramatizes her lyrics with several pitches of her voice and the arrangements follow in her footsteps
