Decyo McDuffie

Decyo McDuffie is an up and coming, professional, and award-winning jazz vocalist whose classic sound harkens back to traditional swing jazz styles from the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Decyo currently resides in Southwest Florida where he is very in-demand for performances and collaborations. Critics have compared him to greats like Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, & have even called him “A male version of Billie Holiday.”

Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist, Jane Monheit, has referred to Decyo as being “One of the most brilliant young singers out there.” Decyo was recently awarded third place in the 2023 Ella Fitzgerald International Jazz Vocal Competition hosted by the prestigious Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington D.C.

During his senior year of undergraduate studies, Decyo recorded and released his first recording project, "I Could Be That Guy." The project is a voice & piano duo record featuring Jess Tracy on piano. A couple years later he recorded and released a holiday project, “Harping My Way Through Christmas.” The holiday EP is a duo-style vocal & harp project featuring Rossitza Milevska.

Decyo aims to fill the void in the lack of classic/crooner-style black male jazz vocalists today and continue the legacy of the greats that have paved the way for him.

Aside from his musical endeavors, Decyo just recently graduated from the University of Florida (UF) with a Master of Science in Entomology focusing on mosquito control research.
