Cleve Douglass' vocal abilities defy the ordinary classifications of category. His musical maturity, wide-range of experience and fearless improvisational skiils combine to allow this artist to deliver fully in many modes of musical styles that include jazz, blues, country, swing, bossa , dance ,and balladry. His voice is the full expression of American music in all its various forms. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Cleve was born with a musical pedigree. His mother , the late Marie Brown-Douglass, was a long-time big band drummer who introduced Cleve to the world of professional music at a young age.

Cleve's early training included an introduction to European Classical (bel canto singing and Opera); but throughout high school Cleve integrated his vocal training with guitar and folk singing appearing regularly in restaurants, hotels and coffee shops.

During his advanced studies, Cleve performed for ten years working a vigorous five-shows-a-day schedule which gave him an intense training in live musical theatre exploring many different styles and periods of American music. Along with his fellow singer/dancers, Cleve appeared on nationally televised music specials sponsored by TIMEX and VIACOM with such stars as Melba Moore, Wayne Newton, Carol Lawrence, Petula Clark, Dolly Parton, The Carpenters, Ray Charles, to name a few.

MOVE TO THE BIG APPLE In 1980, Cleve relocated to New York City where he launched a musical theatre career with Broadway and off -Broadway style productions that eventually led to his own self-produced and self-written show entitled 'Unforgettable Nat 'King' Cole'.

The show garnered acclaim from critics and audiences alike, with The New York Times review stating that, "Cleve..seems to be Nat King Cole reincarnate with a voice as silky as the lapels of his tuxedo.

Cadence Magazine wrote, "..he swings, he scats, he cajoles with musical genius and ease" "He is one of the best male jazz singers on the scene today!", New York Daily News

Cleve has gained appeal in the New York night club community and has been nominated as Best Male Jazz Vocalist consecutively by the Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabaret for his performances in New York City at Birdland, Iridium, Sweet Basil, Blue Note, The Cotton Club, Rockefeller Center, The Russian Tea Room.
