Claudia Vorbach

Claudia Vorbach is a singer-songwriter and a jazz vocalist that comes from Tübingen, Southern Germany. Jazz, Folk and Blues is crossing her songwriting. She grew up in a musical home with Jazz and classical music. She took piano lessons and learned guitar playing as a self-educator. Later on she developed her voice with different teachers. Mainly the Jazz Vocalist Freddy Wilkes and then Fola Dada, both in Germany. “Miss Authentic” one of her fellow musicians has called her, a nickname that expresses an essential feature of her music. The way she sings makes you feel her passionate urge to get across to the audience what she herself feels about her songs. For her each song has a kind of impetus which she wants to follow while composing the music. Thus, she crosses musical and stylistic boundaries. She made her debut album “Come Down Easy” (Phonector) in April 2015. The second album called "Is There A Time?" (Release 12-21-18 by phonector) is including 14 Titels, all written and arranged by Claudia Vorbach, sounds more jazzy than the previous one. This may depend on her composing and on the changed line-up from her band: again she is accompanied by Axel Kuehn- double bass, Felix Schrack- drums and this time on piano and fender rhodes Martin Soeroes. All of them young Jazz musicians from southern Germany. Pianist Martin Soeroes won the "Czech Jazz Contest" and made the third place in "The New York Jazz Competition" with the Jan Prax Quartett in 2014. Double Bass Player Axel Kuehn won the "Europaeische Burghaeuser Nachwuchs-Jazzpreis" in 2009 with the Kühntett. Again she was happy to have the experienced recording engineer Tom Krueger (Ernie Watts, Joy Denalane, Joachim Kühn/Alphonse Mouzon, Gregor Hübner etc.) with her in the studio for mixing the whole thing. In August 2020 she has released the digital single called "Sad News (Corona Blues)" as a solo performed homerecording tune (guitar and vocal), according to do it in a timely manner to the corona situation. She wrote that song during the lockdown April 2020. She is performing solo as a singer-songwriter with piano and guitar in small pubs, house concerts etc. and with band in live clubs.

The singing and composing of the song "Soulful Man" has achieved to be a Semi-Finalist in the category Performance in the International Songwriting Comptition 2019. For the compostion "Lone Islands" (category Jazz) Claudia has been chosen to be a Semi-Finalist in the International Songwriting Comptition 2018. The ISC is located in Nashville. From 19000 entries 10% (1900) have been awarded as a Semi Finalist. Other than 59 songs have been Semi Finalists in the category Jazz. 10th place for the song "Your Island" in category folk from the jury of the Indie International Songwriting Contest (Seattle) 2016.

"Singer-songwriter or jazz vocalist? Who still asks about it today, especially when musicians like Claudia Vorbach successfully tear down all the border fences between the genres. Now there is already the second album of the Tübingen voice artist, and the 14 own songs captivate like already the predecessor ›Come Down Easy‹ by ease and the gift to gradually transform into fat ear candies.(...) Because the young woman is developing her very own personality style - as a composer, as a self-confident vocalist who prefers to sing rather than talk, and as a reconciler between pop and jazz, which is not least due to her three companions, including bassist Axel Kühn
