Andreas Hertel

Andreas Hertel is a German jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and piano teacher. Since the early 90ies he has been on the German jazz scene. He published several CDs with original compositions in solo, trio, and quintet settings and wrote about 200 jazz tunes, some big band arrangements, and theatre music. In 2016 his album CD “Keepin' the Spirit”, feat. guest stars Dusko Goykovich (tp/flh), Tony Lakatos (sax), “Lady Bass” Lindy Huppertsberg (b), became finalist nominee for German Record award “Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”. Hertel studied jazz-piano (1993-97) in Mainz, Germany and visited workshops with Simon Nabatov and Kenny Werner, Herb Geller, Jiggs Whigham, Gustavo Bergalli, among others.

His Christmas song “It might be Christmas Every Day”, arranged with string quartet, piano and female vocalist can be listened to on YouTube and spotify. The sheet music has been published by the famous Doblinger Verlag (publisher) in Vienna, Austria. Also available in arrangements for voice and piano (which is also for piano solo) and for male and female choir (SATB).

He wrote some music books for piano students (also published by - “Let's Play Jazz” (jazz piano examples in different styles and instructions for lead sheet playing and improvisation, intermediate. Blues, swing, bop, ballad, soul jazz, bossa, modal jazz) - “Easy Going” (easy pop), - “The Grooving Piano” (Rock piano, intermediate)
