Andrea Niccolai

Andrea Niccolai, born in Recanati (IT), is a drummer and educator currently residing in Brooklyn, NY. His lifelong passion for music blossomed at a young age, influenced by his father's extensive record collection and a particular interest in Jazz. After graduating from high school, Andrea embarked on a journey to further his musical education, he was accepted at the Jazz Percussion program at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (NL). There, he had the privilege of studying under the renowned Dutch drummer, Eric Ineke.

In 2018, Andrea made the pivotal move to New York City, starting the Masters program at SUNY Purchase, where he honed his craft under the mentorship of jazz drumming luminary Mr. Kenny Washington. Shortly after relocating, he began collaborating with esteemed faculty members such as pianist Pete Malinverni, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, and baritone player Gary Smulyan.

​During his four-year tenure in the Netherlands, Andrea emerged as a professional musician, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists in the European music scene. Notable names include Peter Beets, Simon Rigter, John Ruocco, Jesse Van Ruller, Joy Brown, and Xavi Torres. His contributions can be heard on Enrico Le Noci's "Social Music" (AMA Records), featuring Felix Rossy and Gadi Lehavi, as well as the Victor Oller Trio's "First Song."

Establishing himself as a sought-after sideman in the vibrant NYC jazz scene, Andrea has performed and worked with some of the greatest  jazz musicians, including Joe Magnarelli, Jeb Patton, Tardo Hammer, David Wong, Michael Kanan, Rick Germanson, Michael Weiss, Dena De Rose, and Francesco Cafiso.
