About the Album
‘una montaña sin nombre’ (a mountain without a name) is the fifth track on ‘haikus’ by Buenos Aires based group escribir: releasing October 15th on Isla Desierta Discos. haikus is a development of the work started with this project’s eponymous album [IDD002, 2019]. On this occasion, the original line-up of two electric guitars and drums expands, incorporating double bass, soprano clarinet and bass clarinet, to give rise to new arrangements and timbral possibilities. This track features a short but strong theme in an arrangement that features each pair of instruments developing over a steady groove played by the rhythm section that brings support to showcase open short-form solos by Juan Saidón, Patricio Böttcher and Tomás Cabado. haikus proposes an array of different pieces not only in the dimension of the ensemble but also in their character, some through-composed and arranged, open pieces loaded with improvisation and others that lay in-between. With this renewed group sound, escribir: balances its characteristic aesthetic with the new possibilities provided by the ensemble. ‘haikus’, out in October 15th on Isla Desierta Discos.
tiembla apenas, en la luz que encendemos, la nieve, las tijeras, una montaña sin nombre, a pesar de la niebla (dúo), en los ojos de los peces, una nube de vez en cuando, a pesar de la niebla (trío)
