About the Album

Bandleader/composer John Vanore's "Stolen Moments" is a tribute to the legendary arranger/composer Oliver Nelson. For the album, Vanore pulled together an all-star 15-piece big-band featuring saxophonists Steve Wilson and Bob Mallach; trumpet players Tony Kadleck, Augie Haas, Jon Owens and Dave Ballou; Adam Unsworth and George Barnett on French horns; trombonists Ryan Keberle and Dave Taylor; and the rhythm section of pianist Jim Ridl, bassist Mike Richmond, drummer Danny Gottlieb, guitarist Greg Kettinger, and percussionist Beth Gottlieb. Vanore himself puts down the baton to take a stirring trumpet solo on the title track.
