Acclaimed German jazz bassist Oliver Lutz unveils 'Paffee Mountain', the third single heralding his forthcoming album 'Calamari Fantasy', recorded with his RE:CALAMARI Band. A homage to one of Oliver Lutz's favourite sightseeing spots near Cologne, sweeping opener 'Paffee Mountain', blends tribal percussion with sedate strings and a soaring melody shared between synth and sax. "'Paffee Mountain' sprang to life as I experimented with my vintage DX7 synthesizer" says Lutz. "Some of its presets just instantly inspire, almost telling stories on their own. When I follow that inspiration, the right chords and melodies practically find themselves—synths are truly magical!" About the album: Oliver Lutz, regarded as one of the most innovative and accomplished electric bass players in contemporary jazz, takes a bold new step with 'Calamari Fantasy'. This album project represents the culmination of his journey as a composer over the past three years. It combines deep grooves, futuristic synths, and daring improvisation, pushing the boundaries of jazz, experimental, funk, and fusion genres, with hints of cinematic flair. Collaborating with saxophonist Tineke Postma, keyboardist Pablo Held, and drummer Peter Gall, Lutz has created a sonic landscape that is both expansive and intimate.
