About the Album
'Gathering' is an album cut from "world" music trio East of West's 4th studio album Velella (4000 Records, 2026). The tune was written in Leigh, New Zealand and is inspired by a spontaneous and wild dinner gathering of more than 50 family members. It recalls a place of connections and family, a place of beauty of land and sea, a place that invites memories. It is a lively number that features the trio's core instruments of double bass, oud and hand percussion.
