About the Album
Featuring top up-and-coming NYC musicians and co-produced by Pulitzer Prize winning Saxophonist and Composer Henry Threadgill, "Bounce" aims to break the boundries of conventional "modern jazz". With the use of free/avant-garde elements, and the encorperation of electronic elements, Bounce is set apart from others sonically. A core concept of the album is melodies/melodic lines played by individuals simultaniously, creating a larger melody or melodic structure.
Bounce was premiered at The Jazz Gallery in the summer of 2024, with live-projected visuals acompanying the performance. Since then it was performed at Symphony Space at the AACM Fall Concert Series, All Street, Close Up NYC, and other NYC venues. In that time it was worked on and editied with the help of Henry Threadgill. Henry's contributions were key to the arrangement and structure of sections, form, and feel throughout the entire album.
A release show will take place at The Jazz Gallery on 1/28/26, featuring new compositions as well as a few off the album, and more live-coded visuals.
