About the Album
I have always loved playing Sonny Rollins’ tunes because of their rhythmic melodies and their logical harmonic forms. I changed the original light swing feel of the A sections into a more aggressive modern swing approach. The B section of Sonny’s arrangement has a light funky back beat. In my arrangement, the B section has a Swinging Latin feel. “Biji” is a happy up-beat tune. The perfect tune to open the record and our concerts with.
