"Ali Farka Touche," from violinist Jenny Scheinman's Mischief & Mayhem (Self Produced, 2012), featuring guitarist Nels Cline, bassist Todd Sickafoose and drummer Jim Black. A longtime Bill Frisell alum, there are trace elements of her work with the guitarist's 858 Quartet here, but the violinist's music also heads into more angular and aggressive territory for one of the best recordings in her small but essential discography.
