Joseph Luna (To The Moon Productions: Epicenter
Joseph Luna And Epicenter (2094 To The Moon Productions) One thing is for sure, Altoist Joseph Luna is a major force on the California jazz scene. On this disc, Luna displays his talent using all of the reeds except baritone. His tone is vibrant, clean and the ideas flow like magic. Although in this writer's opinion, Luna's forté is straight ahead jazz, he nevertheless swings nicely on the latin type rhythms presented on this recording. His backing is adequate, if a bit overpowering. This CD will introduce a future star in Joseph Luna, a fine musician, composer and arranger.
