Album Description

Third album by Irene Scardia, the pianist and composer from Salento (Apulia, Italy) comes out on may 27, published by Workin’ Label with the support of Puglia Sound Records and distributed by IRD. After a long creative pause from last release of “Risvegli” (WL 2012), in 2019 Irene Scardia found a new artistic impulse and started composing again. New inspiration came from her life experiences , encounters, relationships together with her interest for knowledge and inner peace and growth. Her pieces describe the pianist’s everyday life, portray single moments, talk about her emotions, desires, aspirations. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s essay “A room of one’s own” (1929) where the writer claims that a woman needs her own space and an annual income to create, Irene Scardia puts the same concept in the pieces of the album and in its title “Una stanza tutta per me”. Irene Scardia has a classic music training and her influences vary from contemporary minimalism to jazz mixed with some more refined pop. Her individual style goes beyond any precise genre definition. It is highly lyrical, cinematic with strong emotional impact. The record contains 11 original tracks played as a trio with Giampaolo Laurentaci, the double bass player, and Filippo Bubbico, the drummer (and her son), who mixed and mastered the whole album. The recordings feature also: B on the vibraphone who duets with the pianist in the title track; Clara Calignano on the flute; Claudia Fiore plays the cello on “Clara”; the vocals by Carolina Bubbico, singer, daughter and author of the track “Prima del volo” already published as instrumental version on the record “Risvegli”. The album’s release is anticipated by the single and animation videoclip “The rest” directed by Diego Perrone.
