Album Description
Mack Goldsbury about the album: My first Jazz recording in New York was in the late ’70s with the great Jazz organist Charles Earland, “The Mighty Burner”. It took place in the famous recording studio of Rudy Van Gelder. I had played with many Jazz organ bands during my time in Dallas, Texas, so I felt at home playing on that recording. There is nothing like playing with a great Hammond player. My good friend and great trumpeter, Maciej Fortuna, was going to be in The States before he and I were to do a European tour. I made a side trip to New York to meet him. A few months earlier while in New York I had played with organist, Mark Minchello and my old friend from the late ‘70s in New York drummer, Lou Grassi . It was so much fun that I took this opportunity to set up this recording . Mark has a great recording studio so we got right to work. I wanted this to be like my first session with Charles Earland. The musicians met, rehearsed a tune and then recorded it. That’s how we recorded this CD no overdubs or playing our solos over. It is like a live concert. Sit back and enjoy.
