Take Five is a reimagining - of sound, of self, of jazz tradition. Each track is a jazz composition, unraveled, reshaped, and folded into something new. From the intricate rhythmic interplay of Dave Brubeck's Take Five to the haunting, ethereal reinvention of Ornette Coleman's Lonely Woman, these five pieces live somewhere between structure and spontaneity. What remains is the spirit of the originals but filtered through the lens of a single voice, multiplied. The voice becomes more than melody. It becomes rhythm, harmony, noise, and breath. It becomes a band, a choir, a kind of instrument in itself. At its heart, Take Five is a vocal looping experiment, an attempt to dissolve the boundaries between soloist and ensemble, between tradition and innovation, between what we recognize and what we've never heard before. The cover art by Nadine Touré is a visual extension of the music: a single painting, made up of five distinct parts. Each of them, inspired by a corresponding track, holds its own identity, its own tone, its own space. Together, they form the whole picture - fragmented yet unified. This is vocal jazz as collage, as reinvention. A tribute to what was and what could be.
