Album Description

On this album, recorded in Hollywood, USA, Saskia Laroo is honoured and proud to appear as a jazz bebop trumpet player together with the late and legendaric first West Coast bebop tenorist Teddy Edwards and blues veteran vocalist Ernie Andrews as well as an all-American authentic cooking and grooving rhythm section. The CD, recorded in Los Angeles, takes us through cool grooving standards, and newly arranged original compositions of Teddy Edwards. Vocalist Ernie Andrews brings 2 compositions of Mr Edwards: the bluestrack "Don “t touch me" and the wellknown "Sunset Eyes", that has been recorded for the first time more then 50 years ago by Teddy with the legendary Clifford Brown/Max Roach Quartet. Prior to the recordings Saskia did a series of performances with Edwards in New York (Iridium), Detroit: and in Los Angeles as well with vocalist Andrews. The CD release in Europe took place at the North Sea Jazz festival, July 1999 (Netherlands).
