The inspiration for this album comes from the heartache of all the immigrants who have had to leave their homes, their counties, their families and loved ones to travel to a foreign far away land and unknown future. In the early 1920 ´s many Cretans and Greeks emigrated ( due to poverty ) to the States, North and South Africa, Canada, Australia and other destinations. On a more personal note, two such immigrants were my grandfather´s two sisters who were sent to America to arranged marriages. Neither my grandfather, his two brothers nor my great grandmother ever saw them again.
