SCORING THE UNSEEN
Imagined soundtracks for films not yet made. Stories that linger just beyond the frame. Scoring the Unseen brings into focus Bret Higgins’ writing for chamber-style ensembles, music that suggests narrative without ever naming it, evoking places, tensions, and emotional undercurrents that feel strangely familiar and entirely new.

An outgrowth of Higgins’ long-running Atlas Revolt project, the recording features core members of that ensemble expanded by a carefully curated palette of sounds: accordion, cimbalom, marimba, strings, woodwinds, choir, orchestral percussion, ocarina, charango, and synthesizers, each color woven deliberately into the fabric of the music.

Deeply informed by a love of film scoring, these compositions subtly tip their hat to masters such as Ennio Morricone, François de Roubaix, Piero Umiliani, Piero Piccioni, John Zorn, and Gustavo Santaolalla, while always retaining Higgins’ own distinct voice. The result is a quietly immersive listening experience: cinematic, textural, and deeply personal.
