Album Description
“Rust” is the new ambient album from saxophonist, composer and producer Inge Weatherhead Breistein. The core of the album's overall sound is saxophone in conjunction with electronics, where it is sampled, electronically processed and manipulated together with various forms of field recordings, analog noise and synth voices. Across six distinct tracks, listeners are invited to dive into a meticulously crafted sonic world, each piece offering a rich sound that is both immersive and expansive. Breistein's approach to music is nuanced and atmospheric, yet it maintains an adherence to musical phrasing, articulated through the expressive voice of the saxophone. The compositions on "Rust" operate under a principle of restraint, allowing the saxophone to cultivate moments that are both evocative and powerful, enabling the music to breathe and resonate deeply. As the album progresses, Breistein anchors us firmly in the present, yet simultaneously transports us through a unique space-time continuum with each track. This experience creates a vast, detailed sonic universe that is delivered with striking clarity. Throughout this journey, Breistein invites listeners to engage with the music on their own terms—whether that means meditating, revelling in the sound, closing one’s eyes to savour, or observing the world anew through the music’s transformative lens.
