Album Description
On November 26th the new Oslo based band ototoi are releasing their debut album “luksusdyr” on Norwegian record label Smeik. It is a quartet with Kai von der Lippe on synthesizers and piano, Martin Mellem on drums and percussion, Jørgen Olsrud on bass and drum machine, and Hein Westgaard on guitar. The music of Ototoi might be described as the soundtrack of a video game that never was released. Electronic sounds from drum machine and synthesizers are mixed into an acoustic soundscape, where lyrical melodies coexist with untraditional textures and sounds. The music is made in the manner of a rock band - with collective composition through musical sketches - and the result is a unique blend of jazz, minimalistic grooves and electroacoustic improvisation.
