Next Level (2020) is a full-length contemporary jazz album from acclaimed producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Herb Partlow, released on his independent Superb Muzic label. The project showcases Partlow's signature fusion of smooth jazz, funk, R&B, and hip-hop, combining soulful melodies, sophisticated keyboard arrangements, melodic bass lines, and contemporary urban rhythms.
Building on the musical direction established in his earlier Future Jazz project, Next Level reflects Partlow's commitment to pushing contemporary jazz beyond traditional boundaries while maintaining the genre's melodic appeal and musical sophistication.
A standout selection, "Paradigm Shift," reached No. 1 on the SmoothJazz.com Listener Chart in January 2021, bringing international recognition to the project and reinforcing Partlow's distinctive approach to modern jazz production.
Throughout Next Level, Partlow blends jazz musicianship with the rhythmic energy of hip-hop and R&B, creating an accessible, groove-driven listening experience that appeals to both longtime smooth jazz enthusiasts and a new generation of listeners.
Next Level represents an important milestone in Partlow's recording career and his ongoing artistic mission: jazz music for a new generation.
