Album Description
Joyful new EP from Macon musician, record producer, studio owner and podcast host, Joey Stuckey, an official Ambassador for the city.
Blind since the age of two, Stuckey has spent the last thirty years making and playing music, having shared the stage with icons like James Brown, the B-52s, and Bad Company while doing production work at his Shadow Sound Studios with the likes of Chuck Leavell, Ed Roland (Collective Soul), Mike Mills (R.E.M.), Paul “Mad Dog” McGuinness (The Pogues), Chris Hicks (Marshall Tucker Band) and Alan Parsons who dubbed him, "the best ears in the business." Behind all of his work lies a commitment to human connection and a profound love for sound. He explores the nitty gritty of making music on his podcast, 'Stuck on Sound.'
Earlier this year, Stuckey became the first artist to record at the Les Paul Studios in Hollywood, California. Joining Joey for the live session were bassist Dusty Wakeman (Dwight Yoakum, Lucinda Williams, Buck Owens) and drummer David Raven, who's recorded on 1500 albums since 1979. Highlights of 'King of Strings' include the title track, "Temple in the Wind," a love song for his wife Jennifer, and a blistering cover of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love." All six songs were done in 2-3 takes.
“I can’t think of a better pairing than Les’ original equipment and King of Strings,” offered Tom Camuso, the Official Recording Engineer with the Les Paul Foundation. “Joey’s music and his approach to capturing it made this record very special. We tried to keep the process simple — a great band playing great songs together, live, through great gear— and nothing more.”
