Album Description
We would like to dedicate this album to the memory of our co-creator, the incredibly talented bass player Matt Montgomery who we lost in 2025 at the far too young age of 47. His creative voice and spirit will be sorely missed.
I first put this project together as I wanted to see what would happen if I brought Matt, the pianist Scott Looney and myself(saxophone) together to improvise.
I had played with Matt and Scott in other contexts and felt they both had an instinctive ear and creative voice that would work well together.
After our first meeting for a concert in Oakland CA, we decided to record. On November 21st, 2024 we met at the recording studios of the San Francisco Conservatory of music and recorded this album.
I hope this music brings joy and peace to those who listen...
and serves as a lasting memory of Matt Montgomery, RIP.
