Following up on his big-band album "Creole Soul" (JazzWeek's #1 airplay album of 2024), trumpeter/composer Etienne Charles travels to the Gullah Geechee communities of coastal South Carolina & Georgia. His friendship with drummer/percussionist Quentin E. Baxter, whose own Gullah musical roots run deep (& are displayed in the Grammy-winning group he co-founded, Ranky Tanky), led him to explore the connections between Gullah culture & that of Etienne's native Trinidad.
