Album Description
Anita Eccleston has made a departure from her usual songwriting style to create a poignant instrumental album exploring the literal nature of the things around her. It serves as a counterweight to the often-chaotic reality of the world, where war rages, people suffer and one feels powerless to help. “I felt like putting down these simple melodies, building on them was like a way to create solid ground under my feet. The kind of soothing comfort these songs offered me, I felt like I had tapped into something pure and true, that others could connect to as well.” What began as an exercise in creation quickly blossomed into a bouquet of soundscapes. In a lo-fi jazz style Anita captures refrains and crafts them together in a kaleidoscopic mosaic, with her breezy trumpet melodies soaring above, aligning the peaks and valleys of this groovy and patiently ambient song collection. Eccleston not only played trumpet, electric ukulele and lent her background vocals to the tracks but she also produced, engineered and mixed them. Chris Gestrin (Public Alley 421) mastered the album and Emily Valin (EACV Designs) created the album cover art. For the first single "Golden Hour," Anita collaborated with Patrick Collins (Alwaysfurther Films) to create the music video. It will be released simultaneously with the whole album, with successive music videos for subsequent singles. "Each song can stand alone or as part of the larger Gala Gardens as a whole. I needed to share this collection all at once as soon as possible, as the kind of relief it offers is uncontainable." The first feature single “Golden Hour” is a laid-back swinging 6/8 song that sounds like being bathed in sunshine.
