Together they deliver a genuinely dreamy and intoxicating blend of Brazilian-oriented compositions written by Bruce Jones, and enriched by Bill’s soulful, impeccably executed, subtly crafted and distinctly nuanced flute work… with sound that is brimming with pristine acoustic clarity... ONE SHEET: Bill McBirnie and Bruce Jones have teamed up once again with a brand new Extreme Flute project. FOREVER features Bill in his singular capacity as “flautist extraordinaire”, and Bruce in his multiple capacities as composer, performer and engineer. Joining them on this latest Extreme Flute incarnation is the outstanding bassist, Robin Latimer. The result of their collaboration is a genuinely hypnotic, dreamy and incantatory album with a distinctly Brazilian flavor throughout that will resonate with listeners whose tastes range from samba to ambient, from urban to jazz. Their previous Extreme Flute release, Grain of Sand, garnered a Toronto Independent Music Award (TIMA) in the Best Instrumental category and, with good karma, their new EP will do at least as well! BILL MCBIRNIE has attained an international standing as one of the most formidable improvising flutists today, in any idiom—whether jazz, Latin, pop or avant-garde. His longstanding commitment to the instrument has earned him accolades and awards in Canada and abroad. As a testimony to his singular place in the global flute community, Bill was personally solicited by no less than Sir James Galway to serve as his Resident Jazz Flute Specialist. BRUCE JONES has integrated Brazilian, folkloric and rock elements into his unique musical personality. Although he grew up near São Paulo, Brazil, he ultimately settled in Canada where his North and South American roots have given rise to a singular writing sensibility that you will experience on all the tracks of FOREVER.
