Album Description

Part 1 of a double album featuring two different, but distinct bands, showcasing two facets of lyrical, harmonically adventurous composer & saxophonist Dom Franks’s eclectic musical tastes. In ‘Duality Pt.1’ Dom pays tribute to the smoking trio of Hammond master Larry Goldings, as well as David Sanborn’s collaborations with organist Joey DeFrancesco, with a new set of compositions inspired by these models. ‘A set full of melody and groove with gorgeous originals by saxophonist and composer Dom Franks’ - Swindon Jazz Review ‘Consolidates on the success of the previous StrayHorn Quartet releases with Franks again impressing as both a saxophonist and as a composer/arranger… lithe and fluent tenor soloing from the leader’ - the JazzMan, previous review ‘Sounds great, man, like Sanborn but on tenor!’ - US Downbeat Poll-winning altoist, Greg Abate credits released August 23, 2024 Dom Franks (tenor and soprano saxophones) Matt Hopkins (guitar) Anders Olinder (Hammond Organ on tracks 1 - 4) John Paul Gard (Hammond Organ on tracks 5 - 7) Andy Tween (drums) All tracks composed by Dom Franks / recorded, mixed and mastered at Crescent Studios by Damon Butcher / tracks 5, 6, 7 recorded at Yellow Shark studios
