Personnel
Ricardo Pinheiro
guitar, electricAlbum Description
Dança do Pólen is a solo guitar album that combines jazz, composition, improvisation, Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking music. Through the construction of intimate soundscapes, sometimes made up of just one guitar, sometimes by several, Ricardo Pinheiro contributes with an innovative album full of melodic ambiences and improvisations. As in Caruma (2020), which has the participation of Theo Bleckmann and Mônica Salmaso, Dança do Polen is a work inspired by the natural landscapes of Serra de Sintra and the musician's daily coexistence with this reality. This record represents a milestone in the career of the Portuguese musician and documents a maturity built up over more than two decades of activity in the field of jazz and improvised music. This is the 18th disc in the career of the guitarist and professor at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, and the 2nd album released in 2021. This album is co-edited by the prestigious New York label Inner Circle Music (led by the renowned saxophonist Greg Osby) and the Portuguese independent label AsUR.
