Album Description
Confluence is the debut album by Asef, a Vancouver-based quartet led by saxophonist and composer Saul Berson. Bringing together jazz improvisation with Middle Eastern musical traditions, the recording draws on influences ranging from Balkan folk and klezmer to flamenco, Indian classical music and bebop.
Recorded at Monarch Studios in Vancouver in February 2026, the album features eight tracks that explore the meeting of different musical cultures through melody, rhythm and improvisation. The music moves between atmospheric, modal passages and energetic ensemble interplay, reflecting Asef's philosophy of bringing distinct musical voices together without losing their individuality.
