Album Description
It is titled Colors and Ties the new album by Francesco Vittorio Amenta, out for To Be Jazz. The album, recorded in Holland at the end of 2014 by Barry Olthof at Olthof Audio Productions, is composed of eight tracks, through which Amenta describes in music snapshots of lived moments. A record with an international scope, in which the Italian saxophonist and composer, who has always been attracted to jazz, in all its colors, from tradition to avant-garde, to contemporary expressions, collaborates in this record with young European musicians. The common denominator is, without a doubt, the love and respect for the jazz tradition, a tribute to the great heroes and legendary figures of jazz such as Bill Evans, Theolonius Monk, Stan Getz and Cedar Walton. In Colors and Ties Francesco Vittorio Amenta uses the colors of the musical language to tell, emphasize and ironize on situations and moments of lived life; colors and ties, hence the name of the album Colors and Ties. The album, produced by the label To Be Jazz and distributed by Self (Irma Records), is played in quintet and has a modern cut. In fact, the guitar is used in place of the trumpet and gives the quintet a northern European sound or, if you prefer, is inspired by current American trends.
