Album Description

Behind The Dikes: The 1969 Netherlands Recordings is the first official release of pianist Bill Evans with Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell captured live in Hilversum and Amsterdam in 1969.

The Hilversum recordings feature Evans’ only version of Duke Ellington’s “I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart” known to exist, plus two rare tracks of the trio backed by the world’s leading pop and jazz orchestra , The Metropole Orchestra.

Remastered from the orginal tape reels housed at the Nederlands Jazz Archief, and in coperation with the Bill Evans Estate, this limited edition 3-LP, 180-gram set includes an extensive booklet with never- before- published photos, essay by Dutch jazz scholar Bert Vuijsje, plus co-producer Zev Feldman, and new interviews with Dutch pianist Jan Huydts, Eddie Gomez, Marty Morell and celebrated pianist Vijay Iyer.

180-gram 3-LP mastered at 33 1/3 RPM with superb sound quality by the legendary Bernie Grundman and pressed at Standard Vinyl in Canada.
