https://summitquartet.bandcamp.com/album/ascending-structure This recording brings together Sweden-based pianist, Walter Thompson; Denver-based saxophonist, Mark Harris; Denver-based bassist, Matt Smiley; and Casper, Wyoming-based percussionist, Ron Coulter for the first time. Coulter arranged the meeting after meeting Thompson and Harris at a soundpainting workshop in Denver three months prior and a long history of collaboration with Smiley. The four found an immediate musical rapport and the result is an idiosyncratic sound world of free improvisation.
