Album Description
The Counterfictionals is a sextet from Copenhagen, for those who love the films of David Lynch, Jane Campion, Sergio Leone, Wes Anderson and the A24 universe. Every composition is inspired by a scene in a film they love. They share their thoughts about the film and the film's theme, as part of their performance of the songs. There are songs about death, rebirth, decay, blood, sudden realisations and unexpected love. The stories are told through distorted guitars and meticulously crafted arrangements for glockenspiel, viola, and theremin. Ethiopian-inspired patterns on muted piano, kalimba and jaw harp. There are haunting motifs on flute and bass clarinet, and there are samples from cult films and compositions that transport you to half-forgotten corners of your memory.
