Pericopes is a contemporary jazz project initiated in 2007 by pianist Alessandro Sgobbio and saxophonist Emiliano Vernizzi. One would best describe their style as ‘New Jazz’, with roots in the European tradition, Afro-American music, and improvisation, and an affinity for melody and compositional structure. This year, he releases a three-volume album titled Travel Poems. It's an unconventional debut. In the rainforests of Costa Rica, what began as a series of song-postcards based on stories of people and places soon blossomed a recording tour, leading to pianos across four continents. The resulting 30-track sonic kaleidoscope boasts solo, duo, and trio performances, threaded through soundscape narratives also curated from around the world. Live performances of Travel Poems feature its expansive repertoire, and additionally explore a complementary idea: how music is itself a means of travel

PAOLO RUSSO - pianist, bandoneonist and composer Welcome to Paolo Russo’s unique music universe: a journey across Italian flavours, classical tones, Nordic landscapes, free improvisations, with a distant echo of Argentinean tango. Born in Pescara (Italy) in 1969, he lives in Copenhagen (Denmark) since 1996. He started his studies with the cembalist Chiara Tiboni and graduated at “Conservatorio L. D’Annunzio” in Pescara, in 1993 (teacher: Rachele Marchegiani). In 2002, he graduated at the prestigious Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. During the past 21 years, he developed a very intense music activity, with performances all around Europe, as well as Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Japan, Faroe Islands, Thailand, Tanzania, Mozambique, Algeria, Russia, USA, Greenland and Cuba
