The Sibarg Ensemble explores a creative intercultural music making by combining the sounds of traditional Iranian music and jazz. Through original compositions, arrangements of classical melodies and folk songs, and structured improvisations, ensemble members draw on their own distinct musical backgrounds, while creating a unique dialogue with one another. With each performance, Sibarg sets out to create a sense of unity and peace while facilitating multiculturalism. Vocalist Hesam Abedini and kamancheh player Niloufar Shiri established the Sibarg Ensemble in 2008 at the Tehran Music Conservatory as the first university ensemble to combine Iranian and non-Iranian music

Christopher Vitas

Christopher Vitas is an accomplished violinist in San Diego. He has performed with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Starlight Theatre, the Old Globe Theatre, Lamb‘s Players Theatre, Pacific Chamber Opera, San Diego Repertory Theatre and the Grand Ole Opry. He performs on record albums, CDs, motion picture soundtracks, and radio and television commercials. Chris has also shared the stage with Lyle Lovett, Robert Plant, Jimmie Page, Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, the Moody Blues, Johnny Mathis, Frankie Lane, Tony Bennett, John Tesh, David Benoit, and more. Chris can be found in different concert venues performing around the San Diego area, such as the San Diego County Fair

Spanish vocalist and song-writer Debora Galan has performed on both coasts of the United States as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Spain, covering a variety of genres including Latin, jazz, R & B and contemporary Christian music. Currently residing in San Diego, she performs frequently on the West Coast as a guest vocalist and with her own ensemble, Silk. The group features some of Southern California’s leading musicians. Before moving to San Diego, she began her professional career in Washington, D.C. in Latin jazz and salsa clubs, performing with top-ranked bands and opening for major artists. Galan’s first album as a leader, All About Love (2016) features ten original compositions exploring the various aspects of love, from enchantment to heartbreak

Percussionist Tommy Aros is an in-demand session percussionist who has played on well over 60 albums by artists as diverse as Freddie Hubbard, Al Dimeola, David Benoit, Dan Segel, Mark Lessman, Charo, Trini Lopez, Tom Barabas, Luis Miguel and many more. Although he may be best recognized for his work with Grammy Award winning superstar Luis Miguel, Tom is also well known as a member of popular San Diego based band Fattburger, and Brazilian all-star band Brasilia.

Peter Kuhn

Peter Kuhn made a name for himself in New York City’s “Loft Scene” in the mid to late 70’s. He played and recorded with Frank Lowe, Billy Bang, Lester Bowie, William Parker and others in that rich musical period with his music documented on Hat Hut (“Ghost of a Trance”), Soul Note (“The Kill”) his own label Big City Records (“Livin’ Right”). After a lengthy hiatus to deal with debilitating drug addiction. Peter is once again in the forefront of creative improvised music these last few years, playing with renewed passion and commitment no doubt supported by his trainings as a Zen Buddhist Priest and more than 30 years of recovery from active addiction

Justin Grinnell

Justin Grinnell is a San Diego-based freelance jazz bassist and music educator. Justin frequently performs with his own groups and as a sideman. He can be heard performing his own compositions and arrangements on his 2013 debut album, Without You. The album features Justin alongside tenor saxophonist Robby Marshall, pianist Josh Nelson, and drummer Dan Schnelle. Justin is a long- standing member of the Danny Green Trio, a melodic and nimble piano trio featuring Green's original compositions and his creative combination of Modern Jazz, Brazilian Jazz, and Classical influences. Since its inception in 2008, the trio has released five albums: With You In Mind (2009), A Thousand Ways Home (2012), After The Calm (2014), Altered Narratives (2016), and One Day It Will (2018)
