Multi-instrumentalist Levy, whose resume includes stints with Albert and BB King, Charles Brown, Roomful of Blues, ReBirth Brass Band, Lowell Fulsom, Ronnie Earl, Charles Earland, The Wild Magnolias and Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers, brings all his experience to the fore on Voodoo Boogaloo, playing Hammond B-3 organ, piano, vibes, basses, and a variety of electronic keyboards, in addition to composing and arranging all the music on the date. Joined by long-time Wild Kingdom regulars Melvin Sparks, the father of acid jazz, and jam band master saxist Karl Denson

Pete Benson

As one of Chicago’s premiere Hammond B3 jazz organists, Pete Benson has been praised by renowned organ greats, Joey DeFrancesco and Chris Foreman. Many will recognize Pete as the organist in the late-night band Sabertooth, a long running staple at the legendary Green Mill Lounge. Led by saxophonists Pat Mallinger and Cameron Pfiffner, with Ted Sirota on drums, Sabertooth has been a long time after hours favorite for over 15 years. Pete has made a name for himself as both leader and sideman and can be seen regularly at Chicago jazz hot spots: Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club, Pete Miller’s Steakhouse, Shaw’s Crab House, The Peninsula Hotel, among a variety of other venues. Leading Irish Hammond organ trio - Organics have been performing and composing professionally since 1997. For the past 3 years the trio have been the jam-session house band at the Cork International jazz festival and have performed throughout the country at music festivals in Cork ,Dublin, Bray, Birr, Galway, Waterford, Omagh, Belfast. In 2001, the group were booked as a support group to Gil Scott-Heron in Vicar Street and in 2004 were critically acclaimed for their group performance with Saxophonist Bobby Watson (Art Blakey + The Jazz Messengers) at the 2004 Cork Jazz festival and in 2005 supported Bugge Wesseltoft at the Bud Rising Festival, Dublin. Organics feature three of Ireland’s finest young jazz musicians Justin Carroll ( Hammond Organ ), John Moriarty ( Guitar ) and Kevin Brady ( Drums ) . Their time as a trio has been marked by a seriousness about repertoire and playing together which has produced a gradual musical evolution

Tony Monaco

Born:
Tony Monaco began his keyboard life at age eight, on the accordion. When he was twelve, his destiny as a jazz organist was sealed when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student, Tony began working in Jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus, Ohio, guided by local organ gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. For further inspiration, he studiously absorbed the mastery of Jimmy McGriff, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Charles Earland, Jack McDuff, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. All would play a role in the development of his musical palette. On Tony's sixteenth birthday, his prayers were answered. He received an encouraging phone call from Jimmy Smith, who soon became his Mentor/Teacher. Four years later, Jimmy Smith invited Tony to come play at his club in Californiaa peak lifetime experience for Tony.

Eli Sundelson

Born and raised in Berkeley, CA, Eli began his musical career playing piano in the award winning Berkeley High Jazz Ensemble. While still in high school he toured Europe to play the Umbria, Montreux And Vienne Jazz Festivals. During his senior year he took up the Hammond B-3 Organ and began gigging at San Francisco organ clubs like The Boom Boom Room, Club Deluxe, The Purple Onion, the Alpha Bar and Bacar. Eli went on to receive a BA in Ethnomusicology from UCLA, where he studied jazz performance with Kenny Burrell. SYNOPSIS From 2003, year of release of his first album Less is More, Mauri Sanchis (born in Alcoy, 1974) has been positioned as one of the most well known musicians worldwide in the groove scenario within blues, funk, jazz or sould through various achievements and awards. Announced as first ever Spain’s endoser of Hammond and Moog as well as as first Spaniard musician to be signed by prestiged german label BHM. Winner of the AJH awards for best live act, best album and best single as well as winner of the Kultur Cam award for his support to the cultural scenario in the province of Alicante. Some of his tracks have been included in compilatory albums together with great stars like John Scofield, Mike Stern, Scott Henderson o Chano Dominguez. Sanchis has played in numerous remarkable festivals oustanding Pori Jazz Festival (Finland) and Jazz San Javier. Has played or recorded together with great stars like Bill Evans, Dean Brown, Joey DeFrancesco, Popa Chubby, Frank Marino, Vargas Blues Band or Devon Allman among others. BY DATES With a self-taught career, his first contact with the Blues comes in 1994 through a cover band called Progressions, leaving behind an adolescence of composing influenced by Vangelis, Jarre o Mike Oldfield. In 1995 travels to the US for college studies which shares with live playing together with Jay Wood o Gary Hamilton. Back in Spain, collaborates with diverse musicians and formations including the phenomenal british guitarist Graham Foster. In 2003, decides to start his solo career with the album LESS IS MORE getting a great welcome by media and public and which leds the band to travel around Spain. The release of Less is More has a noticeable repercusion in the international Hammond scenario leading Mauri to become Spain’s first ever Hammond endorser in 2005. In 2006, his second album, GOOD VIBES!!! is added to the catalogue of the well-known germal label BHM (Maceo Parker, Hiram Bullock, Tok Tok Tok, etc...) receiving a unanimous reviews including AJH awars for best album and best track. Good Vibes!!! is also released in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile by the label Blue Art. Such repercusion reaches a peak point when one of Mauri’s tune is included in the Funky Planet Earth compilation together with tracks of Scott Henderson, Joe Zawinul, John Scofield, etc... The Good Vibes!!! tour takes Mauri Sanchis Band to participate in all kinds of events through Spain like Jazz San Javier, getting the best of the reviews and is invited to play in a Jam Session by Popa Chubby, the king of blues of New York. At the same time, plays live with diverse artists like Kepa Junkera or Vargas Blues Band in the album Flamenco Blues Experience playing keyboards and composing together with Raimundo Amador, Frank Marino, Devon Allman, etc... In 2008, the release of the DVD MORE VIBES!!!, Live at Jazz San Javier will have a nice tour including Pori Jazz Festival (Finland). Furthermore, also in 2008, Mauri is signed as first Moog endorser ever and wins the AJH award for best live act and Kultur CAM award for the cultural support to the province of Alicante.

From cookin’ with Blues legend John Lee Hooker, organ summits with B-3 master Dr. Lonnie Smith, television and radio appearances, young Wil Blades is gaining critical acclaim and international recognition. Blades, a native Chicagoan, has become the San Francisco Bay Area’s first call organist and is rapidly gaining momentum throughout the country. In 2007 and 2008, he was named in the Downbeat critics poll under “Rising Star” for organ. For the past several years, Wil has been wowing Bay Area audiences with groups such as “O.G.D.,” “Motherbug”, “Amendola Vs. Rick Allen

Rick started his career in the 60s playing Hammond B3 in South Central L.A. jazz clubs made famous by Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff and Groove Holmes. Later he played with Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Etta James, Delaney and Bonnie, Dr. John, Ernie K-Doe and many more. As a studio musician in New Orleans, he received Grammy Nomination in 2000 for his playing on Gloryland with the Dukes of Dixieland. His memoir for musicians, "F'n'A, My Crazy Life in Rock and Blues" is being published by Blooming Twig Books of New York and Tulsa, soon to be released in e-book, soft and hard cover formats.
