Chris Trinidad

Filipino-Canadian and San Francisco Bay Area-based musician, teacher, and scholar Chris Trinidad has fallen into the place where everything is music. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, his relationship with music grew through exploring various instruments beginning with the voice, then the piano, followed by the bass guitar, and finally the drum set with little detours in the world of percussion and forays with the guitar.
Chris's formal education includes undergraduate training in Jazz Studies and Secondary Education, graduate study in the fields of Philosophy and Sociology of Music Education and Theological and Liturgical Studies, and doctoral work in Educational and Interdisciplinary Leadership. All of these seemingly disparate disciplines and interests help to inform the music that he makes.

Negative Press Project
Negative Press Project (NPP) is a jazz collective based out of Oakland, CA. NPP is one of the latest singular ensembles to emerge from the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA. “Versatility abounds, and they always look for new ground to explore," says The Bay Bridged. Co-led by bassist Andrew Lion and pianist/keyboardist Ruthie Dineen, the expansive electro-acoustic ensemble always brings a supple textural palette to their largely original repertoire. Tom Bekeny
Born:
For the last 40 years, Tom Bekeny, has been primarily known to people as a Bluegrass mandolinist and fiddler (The Kathy Kallick Band, High Country, Bangers and Grass, Laurie Lewis). But, for the last 15 years he has focussed his energy on playing Jazz mandolin with his trio The Missing Man Quartet. In August of 2013, he released a cd of straight ahead Jazz entitled "Jazzolin" which has garnered some very positive reviews by Jazzmando.com, Jazz Weekly, and Mandolin Cafe. Jazzolin will also be reviewed in the upcoming Winter 2014 issue of Mandolin Magazine. In addition to performing and recording Tom also teaches mandolin.

Russ Pettit comes from a rock n’ roll background. He has listened to the Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry, since birth. His first concerts were The Who and Led Zepplin in 1973 when he was 7. Those concerts made such an impression that he can still remember where he sat. It was Randy Rhoads who finally motivated him to pick up the guitar in his sophomore year of high school. Bob Karty

Bob Karty is a pianist, composer, producer and teacher based in Oakland, CA. His wide-ranging contemporary jazz compositions will be showcased on an upcoming CD - currently in post-production - Mark Walker on drums (Oregon, Paquito D'Rivera), and long-time Pat Metheny Group member Steve Rodby on acoustic bass. Bob has performed with top artists in the San Francisco Bay Area jazz and world music scenes, including percussionist Pete Escovedo (Grammy-nominated Latin jazz legend) and guitarist/composer Ray Obiedo (former Herbie Hancock sideman and Billboard Top-10 Contemporary Jazz recording artist). He has worked with noted percussionists Karl Perazzo (Santana) and Michael Spiro in several projects including the salsa band Conjunto Karabalí and, with Spiro, the world-jazz sextet Tanaóra, which they co- led. With Orquesta La Moderna Tradición, Bob recorded three critically- acclaimed CDs of Cuban music featuring the rarely-performed danzón, often called Cuba’s official national music and dance style, and performed at major festivals across the USA. Bob teaches at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley and at his home studio in Oakland.

Rebecca Kleinmann is an acclaimed flutist, singer, and composer with a twenty year professional career marked by diversity and improvisation. In the words of Latin Grammy Nominated pianist and composer, Jovino Santos Neto, “Rebecca plays flute with the passion of a flamenco dancer.” An explorer at heart, she rockets and flows between genres, one day leading, The Rebecca Kleinmann Jazz Quartet, with pianist Alex Conde, bassist Gary Brown, and drummer Marlon Aldana, the next day performing with a Brazilian Choro ensemble, and then later that night jamming in flamenco juergas. Rebecca’s international career has taken her to perform on stages in Argentina, Brazil, and Europe including the Melbourne’s International Women in Jazz Festival, as well as being featured at the SF Jazz Center, the San Jose Jazz Festival, Yoshi’s San Francisco, and the Oakland Paramount Theatre closer to home
