Alex Ward

Alex Ward was born in 1974. He is a composer, improviser, and performing musician. His primary instruments are clarinet and guitar, and he has also performed in public and on recordings on alto sax, piano/keyboards, bass guitar, and as a vocalist. He was based in Oxford from 1992-2000, and since then has lived in London. His involvement in freely improvised music dates back to 1986, when he met the guitarist Derek Bailey. As an improviser, he was initially principally a clarinettist (sometimes also playing alto sax), but since 2000 he has also been active as an improvising guitarist. On both instruments, hIs longest-standing collaborations in this field have been with the drummer Steve Noble. From 1993 to 2001, most of his activity as a composer took place in collaboration with Benjamin Hervé, mainly in the context of the rock band Camp Blackfoot

Carosones

In 1949 Renato Carosone founded is own band, almost unknown in an Italy rebuilding itself after WW2. In the next ten years he would go on to write a new page in the “Canzone Napolitana” throughout the world. In his own version of the neapolitan dialect and irony he was deeply influenced by his previous ten years in Addis Ababa. He had been directing bands of the new genres of the epoque: swing, cha cha cha, mambo and rock and roll. His recordings of the fifties were such a hit that Carosone turned into a global icon: his fusion of styles charmed all five continents...even China! Sixty years later in Barcelona, the Mediterranean capital, a multicultural group of musicians recreate the recordings that made Carosone's music a cultural heritage

Rory Hoffman

Rory Hoffman is a Nashville based guitarist, keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist. Raised on a small ranch in North Dakota, Rory grew up recording and touring with the family Gospel band. He started teaching himself to play guitar and piano at age 3. By age 5 he was the drummer in the family band. He currently plays over a dozen stringed, keyboard and wind instruments. Rory's personal musical career was jumpstarted in 1999 upon winning Grand Champion Instrumentalist at the Christian Artist Seminar in the Rockies. In 2001 he traveled to Nashville for the first time to record his Gospel instrumental CD, "Blind Faith"

Steven Gauci

In 1977 Steven Gauci walked into a small basement studio in London, Ontario to record a handful of cover songs as a member of Evelyn Anarchy and the Virginity Destroyers, and 35 years later has just completed his 5th solo CD. After the break up of Evelyn Anarchy and the Virginity Destroyers Steven teamed with bandmate Bernie Watson in late 1977 to start a new band. What ensued was a commercial songwriting partnership that lasted until Watson' s death in 1988. As well the pair recorded 3 instrumental albums under the guise of X-Ray Ed and the Blow Dart Kings.
The next few years Steven played with and co-wrote with several other musicians

Wenda Zonnefeld

Born:

Wenda Zonnefeld has a diversified musical background. Growing up in a musical family (everyone played at least one instrument and sang), Wenda was encouraged to pursue various musical interests. She performed in church and school, sang in musicals and wrote songs for her teachers to play. She began playing guitar and singing professionally at the age of 10. As a young adult Wenda became certified for and later created a business for repairing musical instruments called The Music Doctor. During this time Wenda was performing in various musical groups (both classical and jazz)playing woodwinds. Her instrument repair biz had clientele from around the globe including Grammy winners; PhilWoods, Pete Christlieb, Teddy Edwards, Bobby Shew, Fletch Wiley as well as other greats; Bud Shank, Jiggs Wigham, Dick Oates, Nick Brignola, Don Lanphere and Bill Ramsay to name a few. Wenda's business style would often include a jam session where the customers were able to play their newly repaired instruments. All gave Wenda musical advice and encouragement.

Joshua Geisler plays the Bansuri, the North Indian Bamboo Flute, with a flowing, highly ornamented style that effortlessly weaves together Indian Classical Music and Jazz. With solid roots in both East and West, his music is at the same time experimental and grounded in traditional training. The result is a sound that conveys the essence of the mystical traditions of India yet is accessible to modern ears. By embracing the concept of hybridization, Joshua Geisler has innovated both the playing technique and construction of his instrument. His book, The Chromatic Bansuri, details a unique fingering system of his own creation that enables the bansuri to play virtually any style of music

Eric Haltmeier

Born:

Eric Haltmeier is an active performer on woodwinds, keyboards, and electronics. He has recorded and performed with 'Space Genetics' with Paul Scea, the 'Car Music Project' (an ensemble of instruments made from car parts), 'Stop Correcting Me' with multi-instrumentalist Wilbo Wright, and with Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Matt Cranstoun. Haltmeier is the Director of Music at the Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA. He taught in the NJ public schools for 15 years and served on the music education faculty of Westminster Choir College of Rider University.
