Gary Husband

Gary Husband is one of a rare breed of musicians in that his expression is divided equally in his capacity as a drummer and a pianist and keyboardist of international repute. His classical roots, his quest and development in the improvisational, jazz and jazz/fusion areas – not to mention his tenure in the pop, rock, funk and blues circuits – are all evident inside Gary’s distinct and far-reaching musical personality. His solo album and DVD output has also reinforced his status as a critically acclaimed writer and arranger in the contemporary music world. For close to four decades Gary has worked alongside a vast and eclectic range of celebrated musicians including John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce (Cream), Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy), British pop/funk band Level 42, Billy Cobham, Al Jarreau, Mike Stern (Miles Davis), John Wetton (King Crimson), Chris Squire (Yes), Andy Summers (The Police), Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robin Trower (Procol Harum), and with producers Sir George Martin (Beatles), Trevor Horn (Grace Jones & Art of Noise), Quincy Jones (Michael Jackson), Jerry Hey and James Guthrie (Pink Floyd). Further associations and performing/recording credits include his work with Randy Brecker, Jan Hammer, Jerry Goodman, fusion/jam band Gongzilla, Germany’s NDR Bigband, Soft Machine, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Eddie Van Halen, Dean Brown, Bob Berg, Nguyên Lê, Joe Lovano, Charles Tolliver, Bireli Lagrène, Peter Erskine, Ron Sexsmith, drum n’ bass protagonists Lemon ‘D’ and Dillinja. As an internationally established drum clinician he has performed alongside Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Simon Phillips, Omar Hakim, Ricky Lawson, Todd Sucherman, Paul Wertico, Denny Seiwell and Bernard Purdie, and most recently has been developing a series of motivational videocasts in drumming. Thurman Barker

Thurman Barker began his professional career at the young age of 16 playing for blues singer/guitarist Might Joe Young. Classically trained at the American Conservatory of Music his reputation as a drummer grew quickly. He has played for Billy Eckstein, MarvinGaye, Bette Midler and Vicki Carr. He was the house drummer at the Schubert Theatre in Chicago for 10 years where he played for national touring companies. Barker is a charter member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, (AACM) an organization with which he continues his association to this day. He has recorded with Cecil Taylor, MuhalRichard Abrams, Amina Claudine Meyers, Anthony Braxton, Roscoe Mitchell, Sam Rivers, Billy Bang, Joseph Jarman, and Henry Threadgill. Barker has produced five recordings under his own record label, Uptee Productions

Herbie Lovelle

Herbie or Herb Lovelle (1 June 1924 - April 8, 2009) was a versatile American drummer, who played Jazz, R & B, rock and folk. He was also a studio musician and an actor. Lovelle's uncle was drummer Arthur Herbert. Lovelle began his career with trumpeter, singer and band leader Hot Lips Page late in the 1940s, then played in the 1950s with saxophonist Hal Singer, Johnny Moore's Three Blazes, and pianist Earl Hines. Through working for both Lucky Thompson and Jimmy Rushing of Count Basie's Orchestra, he became house drummer at the Savoy Ballroom in New York City for much of the 1950s

Steve Arguelles

Born in 1963, an anglo-catalan now living in France, Steve Argüelles during his teenage years started his career in England with youth orchestras which were part of the British jazz scene, later joining groups lead by John Taylor, Lee Konitz, Dudu Pukwana and important associations with musicians such as Steve Lacy, Alex Balanescu, Shirley Horn, Hugh Masekela or Ronnie Scott. Together with pianist Django Bates he formed the group `Human Chain’ and they became key figures in the big-band `Loose Tubes’ that during the 80s was a shooting star of young British Jazz. Becoming one of the most in demand drummers in Europe, in 1991 he moved to Paris and began regular collaborations with Benoît Delbecq, Noël Akchoté, Marc Ducret, Corin Curschellas as well as leading a quintet with his brother saxophonist Julian Argüelles

Tony Allen

Tony Oladipo Allen (born in Lagos, Nigeria) is a Nigerian drummer, composer and songwriter who currently lives and works in Paris. His career and life story have been documented in his 2013 autobiography Tony Allen: Master Drummer of Afrobeat, co-written with author/musician Michael E. Veal who previously wrote a comprehensive biography of Fela Kuti. As drummer and musical director of Fela Anikulapo Kuti's band Africa 70 from 1968 to 1979, Allen was one of the primary co-founders of the genre of Afrobeat music. Fela once stated that, "without Tony Allen, there would be no Afrobeat." He has also been described by Brian Eno as "perhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived. A self-taught musician, Allen began to play drum-kit at the age of eighteen, while working as an engineer for a Nigerian radio station

Sam Allen

Sam Allen is a musician currently living in New York City. Originally from upstate New York he attended The Berklee College of Music in Boston. Graduating with a diploma in Music Performance Sam moved to NYC. He performs on the drum set mostly in the Tri-state area and is fluid in playing many different styles of music. Playing and writing music is a way of life for Sam. Drumming is his first love but playing piano/keyboards for composing and more recently the bass for fun takes up much of his time. Sam's approach to music is having a solid foundation in the history of the music but not getting lost in the past

Kenny Dennis

Kenny Dennis began his music career in the United States Army Band playing drums in three bands from 1948-1952. While serving, he met and performed with fellow musicians, (alto-saxophonist) Cannonball Adderley, his brother, (trumpet player) Nat, and (pianist) Junior Mance. After being discharged, he connected with junior high school mate, (pianist) Ray Bryant and became part of The Ray Bryant Trio along with Jimmy Rowser on bass. They became the house trio at the famous North Philadelphia Jazz Club, “Blue Note” where they played for such notable jazz artist as J.J. Johnson, Kai Winding, Chris Connor, and Sonny Stitt

Mickey Roker

Granville "Mickey" Roker is an American jazz drummer. Roker was born into extreme poverty in Miami to Granville (Sr.) and Willie Mae Roker. After his mother died (his father never lived with them), when he was only ten, he was taken by his grandmother to live in Philadelphia with his uncle Walter, who gave him his first drum kit and communicated his love of jazz to his nephew. He also introduced the young Roker to the lively jazz scene in Philadelphia, where the great Philly Joe Jones became Roker's idol. Roker learned quickly, and he never stopped playing. Tsuyoshi Yamamoto

Tsuyoshi Yamamoto is a drummer, percussionist, composer, arranger, and educator from Nagoya, Japan. He began playing drums in Japan as a teenager, excelling in rock, and funk. In college, he began to play Jazz and had many live performances with various big bands, small bands, and funk bands while continuing to play rock. His band released a CD on an independent label in March 2004, and toured in Japan around Tokyo and Osaka. He graduated from Nagoya University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Science in 2006. In 2006 Tsuyoshi received a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music where he majored in jazz composition and performance, winning the Louie Bellson Award, as well as a Berklee achievement-based scholarship

Matt Wilson

I was born in the prairie town of Knoxville, Illinois September 27th 1964. I was lucky to have cool parents who encouraged me in my creative pursuits where it was music, theater, writing or weird art. I became interested in playing the drums in the third grade after seeing Buddy Rich on the Lucy Show. He was judging a local drum contest featuring Ricky Jr. a fine drummer. Inspired, I pooled together some capital and purchased some Ludwig 9a sticks at the local Byerly Music store. With sticks in hand I began exploring a wide range of suitable cookware and five gallon buckets as sound sources. Soon my parents made in investment in a used of brand snare drum drum and cymbal. My middle brother played the saxophone and we immersed in the local PTA and 4H concert circuit at a very young age. It was quite a duo, Mark with his Beuscher tenor and me with my minimalist set up of orange sparkle snare drum and 10” sheet metal cymbal. We had a book that explored all of the hits of the 60’s and 70’s. (We were serious Herb Alpert afficiandos). We even had some cool schtick: I guess times have not really changed.
