Chris Covais

Chris Covais: drummer/vibraphonist/composer/producer/leader of Chris Covais & Exit 36. Chris Covais has been playing drums since he was three. An interest in jazz came early after hearing Dave Brubeck, The Modern Jazz Quartet, Vince Guaraldi, Ramsey Lewis, and Pete Jolly. Influences on the drums include Nick Ceroli, Frank DeVito, Milton Banana, Joe Porcaro, and Isaac "Red" Holt. Covais studied briefly with Joe Morello before attending the New School For Jazz And Contemporary Music in 2008. When not free lancing as a jazz drummer, Covais plays vibes in his bossa nova quartet, Chris Covais & Exit 36.

Ziv Ravitz

Ziv was born in Beer-Sheva, Israel to a family of musicians, he was drawn to music at an early age, playing the guitar, keyboard and drum. When he was 9 years old he started focusing on drums and by the age of 13 begun his professional career, playing the drums at various clubs in Beer-Sheva and Tel Aviv and acquiring experience in a variety of musical styles, such as Jazz, rock and avant-garde. In 1999 Ziv was chosen as a reserved drummer for guest performers from Europe and the United States at the Camelot Jazz Club in Tel Aviv. Ziv moved to the US in the summer of 2000 to expand his musical experience and to grow as a Jazz composer

Eric Alabaster

Eric has been playing professionally since his early teens. Eric is a drummer, composer, Tabla player & music educator. He was born in and resides in New York City. Eric studied composition with the legendary Jimmy Heath; Drumming with Dominic Moio, student of the late great Alan Dawson; also with Elliot Zygmund, Akira Tana, and with James Preiss; Desi Rhythms and Tabla with the late Ustad: Mulazim Hussain, Radio and Television artist formerly of Islamabad, Pakistani, Oveh Ha Shalom. He also studied tabla with Khurshid Hassan of Lahore, Pakistan.

Matt Kane

Originally from Hannibal, Missouri, which is best known as the boyhood home of Mark Twain and the setting for the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, drummer Matt Kane cut his musical teeth in Kansas City. One of four cradles of jazz along with New Orleans, Chicago and New York, Kansas City was known for its hard-swinging style pioneered by Count Basie, Jay McShann, Mary Lou Williams, Charlie Parker and hundreds of other jazz greats. Kane learned his craft from Daahoud Williams, the McFadden Brothers, Ida McBeth and other veterans of the Kansas City scene. He quickly became known as the “Main Cat” on the drums

Rico Barr

The professional musical career of the multi-faceted Rico Barr began at the age of fourteen with special permission from the Musicians Union due to his under age status. By the age of seventeen he was playing drums with the Ted Herbert Orchestra, one of New England’s top dance bands�"many of whose members went on to play with Woody Herman’s legendary Third Herd. While hardly out of his teens, his drumming could be heard in such diverse settings as the Hampton Beach Concert Orchestra, jazz and show bands, and backing up rock legend, Chuck Berry. "Tiger" Bill Meligari is a professional drummer-performer, teacher-clinician, author-publisher, producer, freelance writer, and Black Belt Martial Artist with more than 40 years experience in the drumming field. He has worked with a variety of artists from Jazz specialists like Thad Jones to Rock ‘n’ Rollers like Vince Martell (original lead guitarist of the Vanilla Fudge). Recordings include albums with keyboard artist Rocco Ferrante and Dickie Goodman's hit album "Jaws." Bill first became a “DrumHead” at the age of four, after playing his cousin’s drumset. Mike Melito

Born:

Mike Melito hails from Rochester, NY where he keeps an active performance, recording, and teaching schedule. Mike comes from a very musical family and started playing at a very early age. He studied with RPO percussionist John McNeill from 5th grade to 11th grade. He credits McNeill with providing him a strong foundation with the drums and invaluable lessons on music in general. Mike's older brother Tom is also a jazz drummer based in NYC for over 35years. He helped Mike in every aspect of jazz drumming. His father and other brother Chris both play trumpet and played an important role in Mike becoming a musician

Carmen Intorre

Carmen Intorre Jr. developed an early interest in music and began playing drums at age five.  He has performed and recorded with numerous musicians such as George Benson, Larry Coryell, Wynton Marsalis, Monty Alexander, George Coleman, Eric Alexander, George Cables, Benny Golson, Richie Cole, Joe Locke, Lew Tabackin, Bobby Watson, Ira Sullivan, Bucky Pizzarelli, and many others.  Carmen currently holds down the drum chair with legendary jazz guitarist Pat Martino, touring extensively throughout the world with the guitarist's organ trio and quintet.

A 2011 GRAMMY® nominee for his co-producer credit on the critically acclaimed album by Joey DeFrancesco entitled Never Can Say Goodbye: The Music of Michael Jackson, Intorre also had the pleasure of performing alongside DeFrancesco and Dr. Lonnie Smith on the PBS show Legends of Jazz, hosted by Ramsey Lewis.

JoJo Kuo & The Afrobeat Collective

Joseph “JoJo” Kuo is a much-sought after musician and producer who is known globally for his extraordinary drumming talent. He is known largely for his work with Fela Kuti in the 80's. His recent release, No Kelen Kelen, is a compilation a long time in the making, and the diverse cultural backgrounds of the musicians are woven masterfully into this musical tapestry. No Kelen Kelen features vocals by Chet Samuel (Burning Spear), Sisaundra Lewis (Cirque du Soleil’s “La Nouba”), Michelle Amato (Yanni), and notable studio musicians Rohan Reid (Najee), Charlie DeChant (Hall & Oates), Martino Atangana (Tchokola w/Jean-Luc Ponty), and others. JoJo Kuo has contributed his performing and producing talents globally with such artists as Manu Dibango, Fela, Peter Gabriel, Papa Wemba, Mory Kante, Harry Belafonte and Richard Bona, to name just a few
