Andrew Read studied double bass at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne (Australia). After leaving the college in 1981, Andrew began to work professionally in the Australian music scene performing and recording with such diverse artists as jazz singer Vince Jones through to pop band Perfect Strangers. In 1993 Andrew moved to the Netherlands to further his studies in classical double bass at the Conservatorium in Enschede and later with Hans Roelofsen at the Conservatorium in Arnhem. Within a short period after moving to the Netherlands Andrew became established in both the jazz and classical worlds

Pascal Niggenkemper
New York City-based German-French bassist, composer and improviser Pascal Niggenkemper is a performing and recording artist active on the creative music scene in the US and in Europe. From 1999-2005 he was musically active in Cologne having studied jazz & classical double bass at the Hochschule für Musik. In 2005 he received the DAAD award and moved to New York. From 2008 to 2010 Pascal led the PNTrio with Tyshawn Sorey and Robin Verheyen. (CD "pasàpas" Konnex 2008 & “urban creatures” JazzHausMusik 2010). The trio toured extensively in Europe performing at the Jazzcologne Festival, Jazzherbst Konstanz and at the Kennedy Center in Washington

Kris Funn
Born:
Kristopher Funn was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He began playing the trumpet at age four and took up the double bass at age 14 upon entering high school. Through the instruction of his father, Charles Funn, Kristopher performed his first professional bass gig the same year he began learning the instrument. Other early accomplishments included winning the “unsung hero” at the Fish Middleton jazz competition at the East Coast Jazz festival also in the first year of instruction. At age 18, Kristopher attended Howard University to study Computer Science while also performing in the Howard University Jazz Ensemble for two years

Dave has collaborated with other artists in countries such as Australia, Russia, Korea, Grand Cayman, and Romania. Dave moved to New York City in 2010 to attend the Juilliard School for his master’s degree

Sabino Paz
Sabino Paz, nacido en Argentina en 1976. En el tocadiscos familiar podia escucharse a Mercedes Sosa, John Coltrane, The Beatles o Astor Piazzolla. En 1992 comienza tocando el bajo eléctrico. En 1998 se acerca al contrabajo, con el que participa en grupos de jazz, candombe, folklore latinoamericano y tango. En 2005 se muda México, primero a Los Cabos y más tarde al Distrito Federal, donde toca con grupos de jazz y de música popular. Estudió bajo eléctrico con Javier Malosetti, y contrabajo con Hernán Merlo, Juan Elias, Horacio Cobarcos, Agustin Bernal, Bob Magnusson, John Lokwood, Dave Santoro y Ben Street.

Jonathan Drechsler
Born:
Jonathan Drechsler is an experienced, versatile bassist with decades of experience playing jazz, blues, swing, Hawaiian, Latin (salsa, merengue, samba, bossa,cumbia, bolero, ranchero, etc.) and many other forms & styles. Originally from New York City, he studied under John Lewis, Charlie Palmieri, Don Heckman, Ed Summerlin and others at the City College of New York, and privately under Richard Davis. He was ubiquitous on the Greenwich Village blues, folk and jazz scene scene until moving West to Oregon in 1980. There he worked with Paul Delay, Curtis Salgado, NuShooz and the Esquires, as well as backing Robert Cray, Ted Curson, Joe Albany, Tom Grant, Sonny King, Nancy King, Rebecca Kilgore & others in performances all over the Pacific Northwest. Now living in Hawaii, he works & records with The Hula Honeys. He has also performed and/or recorded with George Kahumoku, Henry Allen, Owana Salazar and numerous other well-known Hawaiian & jazz artists.

Nathan Brown
Born:
Nathan began playing music at the age of five through the Suzuki cello program. Through grade school and middle school he also began to play the euphonium, tuba, and the string bass. Nathan eventually decided to focus on the string bass and his love for jazz music in college. He attended Michigan State University and studied jazz bass with world famous bassist Rodney Whitaker and classical bass with renowned bassist Jack Budrow (BA in jazz studies obtained 2009). Nathan attended graduate school at Northern Illinois University as a graduate assistant in jazz studies under the direction of Ronald Carter (MM obtained 2011)
