Pamela Rose At The Sound Room

Popular San Francisco Bay Area vocalist / composer / educator Pamela Rose held court at the recently relocated Sound Room in downtown Oakland. Accompanied by long time musical friends guitarist Danny Caron, B3 organist Wayne De La Cruz and drummer Mark Lee, Rose presented new material nicely sprinkled with some old favorites.

Rose's stellar band played "Wake Up" to get the house rocking. When the tune was finished, she thanked them and introduced the individual members. Rose loved writing songs and collaborating with other writers. She performed a Lou Rawls influenced song and mentioned tonight was special because she wore high heels. The club responded with laughter. She dedicated "That's What My Baby Does For Me," a song about long lasting love, to fans Pete and his wife.

"I really love Aretha Franklin" commented the music educator. Inspired by the Queen of Soul's "Chain of Fools," she penned "This Love Is Gonna Do Me In." This original had the house head bobbing and toes tapping. Rose also added her composition "Love Me Like A Man." This song was popular with her music students and her Hammond Organ Party musicians. Marina Crouse took the stage with Rose and contributed on the stand up and dance closer "I'm Not Missing You."
