The New-York Historical Society will host musicians David Amram, Candido, Arturo O'Farrell, Paul Peress and Ruben Rodriguez as they play and discuss Afro-Cuban music, Wednesday, November 30th, 7:00 p.m. at the New-York Historical Society, 170 Central Park West at 77th Street.
An all-star concert that explores and celebrates the music that resulted from the introduction of enslaved African peoples to the Caribbean lands. The concert ranges from re-creations of the earliest known performance pieces, including original instrumentation in and about Cuba, through contemporary Latin jazz as it has subsequently made its way to, and evolved, in the United States.
