Why Jazz at CAM?

World of Jazz builds on the legacy of the abstract expressionist painter Jean Miotte, whose foundation is housed within Chelsea Art Museum. Miotte’s painting is inspired by the improvisational qualities of Jazz. Through his painting, Miotte strove to build a bridge between cultures and transcend national boundaries to form a truly international artistic language. It is in this spirit that Chelsea Art Museum welcomes a diverse pool of talented jazz artists whose music is infused with musical traditions from around the world.

World of Jazz 2008 past performances included: Daniela Schaechter, Victor Prieto, Lars Haake, Oli Rockberger, Pauline Jean, and Stephane Wrembel.
