All About Jazz Connects Local Musicians and Teachers Through Searchable Directories
Location-based tools help jazz musicians find collaborators and students discover teachers in their communities.
All About Jazz (AAJ), the internationally recognized jazz platform, is spotlighting two valuable resources designed to connect musicians, educators, and students in their local communities: Find Local Jazz Musicians and Find Local Jazz Teachers.
Powered by AAJ's extensive musician database, both directories use location-based searching to help visitors discover musicians and educators nearby. Users can refine their searches by instrument and geography, while the teacher directory also allows filtering by student proficiency level.
For working musicians, the possibilities range from finding a bassist for an upcoming performance to connecting with a drummer for a recording session or discovering new collaborators. For students, the teacher directory offers a convenient way to locate jazz educators whose instruments and teaching experience match their interests.
One of the most rewarding aspects of building All About Jazz is discovering new ways our existing technology can serve the jazz community," said AAJ founder and publisher Michael Ricci. These directories have been available for some time, but they haven't received the attention they deserve. We're changing that because the potential to create meaningful musical and educational connections is enormous."
To appear in the Find Local Jazz Musicians directory, musicians simply complete the Regional Information section of their musician settings form.
Musicians who also provide instruction can appear in the Find Local Jazz Teachers directory by completing both the Regional Information and Teaching sections.
This approach allows musicians to maintain their information in one place while making themselves discoverable to potential collaborators, employers, and students.
The resources also complement Jazz Near You, AAJ's companion platform for discovering live jazz performances, venues, festivals, and local jazz activity.
Technology is most valuable when it helps people connect in the real world," Ricci added. Whether that leads to a new band, a paying gig, or a student finding the right teacher, these are precisely the kinds of opportunities we want All About Jazz to make possible."
