Shane Nichols gave our CD a great review a couple of weeks ago:

The ranks of Australia's better jazz pianists will soon have to welcome a new boy. Based in Melbourne, Tom Vincent, 31, is just now making his recording debut, and while restricted to tunes straight out of the book of jazz classics, it showcases a remarkable talent. What's remarkable is that Vincent can make all these old hardies sound so reinvigorated. As Don Burrows has noted, Vincent is full of surprise and inventiveness; his way of playing has you hankering for the next note and smiling to yourself when it arrives. He can tip-toe through a tune, dripping melody with spare, treble notes but never sounding merely pretty, or race away with insouciance. He is a delight and his follow-up disc, which he acknowledges has to consist of original material, will be fascinating to gauge. Vincent's musical soul mate, drummer Marc Meader swings incurably, a deft hand with brushes and hi-hat (Get Out of Town, Cherokee), or rough-house style, as on Little Melonae and Witchraft. Matt Clohesy on bass is a worthy partner in this achievement. Order from [email protected]
